年份

關于四位數(shù)年份的讀法有下列幾種情形：

1）一般情況下，將表示年份的四個數(shù)字按前后分為兩組，每一組的數(shù)字都按基數(shù)詞來讀。例如：

1865年讀作 eighteen sixty-five

1998年讀作 nineteen ninety-eight

2）如果前兩個數(shù)字為非“零”數(shù)字，后兩位數(shù)分別為“零”，則先讀出前兩位數(shù)，然后將后面的兩個“零”讀為 hundred。例如：

1900年讀作 nineteen hundred

1800年讀作 eighteen hundred

3）第三個數(shù)字為“零”（其他數(shù)字不是“零”）的年份的讀法應當將該“零”讀為O［u］。例如：

1809年讀作 eighteen O nine

4）關于千年的一些讀法。

2000年讀作 two thousand

2008年讀作 two thousand and eight（或twenty O eight）

1008年讀作 one thousand and eight（或ten O eight）

另外，還有一些非四位數(shù)的年份，它們有兩種讀法：一種是按照基數(shù)詞的方法來讀，另一種是一個一個數(shù)字來讀。例如：

531BC讀作 five three one BC（或five hundred and thirty-one BC）

since the “1950s” 譯作：在20世紀50“年代”之后

日期

英語日期的讀法、寫法和漢語不同，要注意區(qū)別。英語中年、月、日的表達方法是“月份+序數(shù)詞，年”。2001年4月2日應該寫成：April

2nd, 2001，讀成：April the second, two thousand and

one。一般情況下，序數(shù)詞是在基數(shù)詞后加-th，但有幾種特殊情況，可按下面規(guī)律來記：1、2、3單獨記（即first, second,

third），8后少t，9少e（即：eighth, ninth），5、12變ve為fth（即fifth,

twelfth），整十位數(shù)變y為ie再加th（如twentieth），二位以上只將個數(shù)變序數(shù)詞（如thirty-second）。

例如：

October 31（October 31st）讀作October（the）thirty-first

August 26（August 26th）讀作August（the）twenty-sixth

日期的表達英式和美式有所不同，請注意區(qū)別。

在日期的寫法上，英式先寫日子，美式先寫月份。

英1999年4月6日=6th April l999

美1999年4月6日=April 6，1999

在讀法上，英國人有兩種表達方式：

1．April the sixth，nineteen ninety-nine

2．The sixth of April，nineteen ninety-nine

美國人則一般這樣表示：April sixth，nineteen ninety-nine(省略“the")

時間

時間的讀法有以下一些特點：

1）可以直接按照表示時間的數(shù)字來讀。例如：

10：56讀作 ten fifty six

8：30讀作 eight thirty

2）正點后的前半小時，通常說幾點“過”（past）幾分。例如：

9：25讀作 twenty-five past nine

2：16讀作 sixteen past two

3）正點后的后半小時，通常說幾點“差”（to）幾分。此時，所說的“幾點”指的是“正點”后的下一個“正點”。例如：

10：55讀作 five to eleven

8：40讀作 twenty to nine

4）英語中的15分鐘也可以說成“一刻鐘”（a quarter）。例如：

4：15讀作 a quarter past four

7：45讀作 a quarter to eight

45分鐘讀作 three quarters

(5)鐘點的讀法

鐘點的讀法分英式和美式兩種，我們應對此加以注意。

英7：00 seveno’clock a．m．／p．m．

8：15 a quarter past eight／eight fifteen

9：30 half past nine／nine thirty

9：45 a quarter to ten／nine forty-five

10：03 three(minutes)pastten／ten ohthree

美用法基本相似，只是英國用past之處，美國通常用after；英國用to之處，美國常用fo。

美5：15 a quarter after five／five fifteen

9：30 nine thirty／half past nine*

9：45 a quarter of ten／nine forty-five

9：55 five of ten／nine fifty-five

當用于軍事命令和旅行時間表時，其讀法如下：

07：00 (Oh)seven hundred hours=7：00a．m．

09：15 (Oh) nine fifteen=9：15a．m．

12：00 twelve hundred hours=midday／noon

13：45 thirteen forty-five-1：45p．m．

19：00 nineteen hundred hours：7：OOp．m．

23：05 twenty-three(Oh)five--11：05p．m．

24：00 twenty-four hundred hours=midnight

24：10 twenty-fourten’ten past midnight
