地點狀語從句表示地點、 方位， 這類從句通常由where引導。

(1)地點狀語從句由where，wherever，引導，

如：We must camp where we can get water.

我們必須在能找到水的地方露營。

(2)地點狀語從句與定語從句的區(qū)別 :

在于分句在句中作什么成分。作狀語，則是狀語從句；作定語修飾名詞，則是定語從句

where引導定語從句時，從句前應有一個表示地點的名詞作先行詞；而狀語從句前則無需先行詞。

如：

Go back where you came from.(where引導地點狀語從句）

你從何處來到何處去。

Go back to the village where you came .(where引導定語從句，修飾village)

回到你來的那個村子里去。

判斷：

①We went home, where we had dinner.此句是where引導的"非限制性"定語從句,這里"where"= at home(先行詞是home)從句還原" we had dinner at home"全句譯：我們回到家，在家里吃了頓飯.

②I walk into the canteen where students are eating此句也是where 引導的定語從句，與上句不同之處在于此句是一個"限制性"定語從句.全句譯：我走進了這個同學們都在吃飯的食堂。（限定說明了是一個什么樣的食堂)

③地點狀語從句與定語從句其本身屬性就不同：地點狀語從句相當于大的副詞;定語從句相當于大的形容詞,副詞是用來修飾動詞的,

例： you can go where you want to go . 你可以去你想去的地方。

（3）地點從句一般位于主句之后，但為了強調(diào)，也可以放在句首。

With a car，a person can go where he pleases and when he pleases.

有了汽車，人可以想去哪兒就去哪兒，想什么時候去就什么時候去。

And where there is shale there is likely to be oli.

哪兒有頁巖，哪兒就可能有石油。

where引導的定語從句與狀語從句：

where引導定語從句時，從句前應有一個表示地點的名詞作先行詞；而狀語從句前則無需先行詞。如：

Go back where you came from.(where引導地點狀語從句）

你從何處來到何處去。

Go back to the palce where you came from.(where引導定語從句，修飾place)

回到你來的那個村子里去。

You’d better make a mark where you have any questions.(狀語從句)

You’d better make a mark at the place where you have any questions.(定語從句)

1、地點狀語從句一般置于主句之后

Sit wherever you like. 你愛坐哪兒都可以。

Keep it where you can see it. 把它放在你看得見的地方。

He lives where the climate is mild. 他住在一個氣候溫暖的地方。

I’ll take you anywhere you like. 你想到哪兒我就帶你到哪兒。

You can’t camp where / wherever / anywhere you like these days. 如今你可不能隨意在哪兒宿營。

2、根據(jù)強調(diào)的需要，anywhere, everywhere和wherever也可以 (where則一般不可以) 放在句首。

如： Anywhere she goes, he goes too. 不論她去哪兒，他也去哪兒。

Wherever I am l will be thinking of you. 我不論在哪兒，都會想你的。

Everywhere I go, I find the same thing. 不管我走到哪里，我都發(fā)現(xiàn)同樣情況。

Wherever he goes, there's always a spy hanging about. 不管他到哪里，總有一個密探跟著。

Wherever he is he'll be thinking of you. 不管他在哪里，他總會想著你。

We'll go wherever you say. 你說到哪里我們就到哪里。

Everywhere Jenny goes she’s mistaken for Princess Diana. 無論詹妮走到什么地方，她都會被誤認為是戴安娜公主。

3、where一般表示一個確定的但非特指的地點。如：

The church was built where there had once been a Roman temple. 教堂建在曾一度是羅馬神廟的地方。

Next time I hope you’ll go where I tell you to. 下次我希望你去我告訴你去的地方。

4、wherever, anywhere 和 everywhere 表示“任何地方”。如：

No matter where you now are in writing, you can improve with practice. 不管你在寫作上你處于什么水平，練習都能幫你提高。

Keep your mobile phone with you no matter where you are. 不管在哪里你都要帶著手機。

With a special train ticket you can travel wherever / anywhere / everywhere you like in Europe for just over￡100. 你如持有專車票，僅花一百多一點英鎊，就可以到歐洲各地旅行。

5、有些地點狀語從句中有的詞可以省略。如：

Where possible, they tried to acquire colonies. 只要可能，他們就設法取得殖民地。

Avoid structures of this kind wherever possible. 只要可能，就要避免這種結構。

6、易混淆：

Where there''s a will there''s a way, but what if your name is Will

有志者事竟成，但如果你就叫WILL呢

注：如果他叫Will，那他就路路通，什么事兒也難不倒他。這是根據(jù)俗語延伸出的好玩兒的思維，下面的句子也是這個俗語的好玩兒延伸：

Where there''s a will, there''s an Inheritance（遺產(chǎn)） Tax.

哪里有遺囑，哪里就有遺產(chǎn)稅。
