affordable [?'f?:d?bl] adj.e.g.付得起的價格 affordable prices 2)such和so都可以用來表示程度,意思是“如此;這樣”,但用法卻不相同。

1.such是形容詞,用來修飾名詞,名詞前有無形容詞都可以;so是副詞,用來修飾形容詞或副詞,形容詞后可以省略名詞。例如:

he is such a(big)fool.他是個(大)傻瓜。

he is so foolish(a man).他是如此愚蠢(的一個人)。

2.單數(shù)名詞前有不定冠詞與形容詞時,so和such的位置不同。前者為“so+形容詞+冠詞+名詞”,后者為“such+冠詞+形容詞+名詞”。例如:

i know such a clever boy.我認(rèn)識如此聰明的一個男孩。

i know so clever a boy.我認(rèn)識如此聰明的一個男孩。

3.so后即使有形容詞,也不能修飾復(fù)數(shù)名詞或不可數(shù)名詞,而such則可以。例如:

they are such useful books.它們是如此有用的書。

he gave us such good food.他給了我們這么好的食物。

4.名詞前有表示“多、少”意義的many,much,few,little等修飾詞時,要用so,不用such。例如:

there are so many flowers in our school garden.我們學(xué)校的花園里有那么多的花。

5.當(dāng)little表示“小”的意思修飾可數(shù)名詞時,其前只能用such,不能用so。例如:

e.g.到明天這個時間,我將正在海灘上躺著。by this time tomorrow, i’ll be lying on the beach.雖然將來進(jìn)行時與一般將來時有時表達(dá)的意思差不多,但它們之間還是有一些區(qū)別的。一般將來時中的will經(jīng)常具有蓄意為之的含義(如表示主語的意愿、決心、許諾等),將來進(jìn)行時不具有這些含義,只表示單純的將來,或者說只陳述將來的事實,但它具有一種“溫和效應(yīng)”,語氣比單用will時委婉客氣:

e.g.你什么時候會處理完這些信件?(如上司對下屬)when will you finish these letters? 你什么時候會見到懷特先生?(如下屬對上司)when will you be seeing ?

你明天這時候會在干什么?(不是問意圖,只問事實)what will you be doing this time tomorrow? 我會在打網(wǎng)球。i’ll be playing tennis.否定式也有這些區(qū)別:

1.所有格:在英語中有些名詞可以加’s來表示所有關(guān)系,帶這種詞尾的名詞形式稱為該名 詞的所有格。2.所有格的規(guī)則

1)專有名詞(人名)1.以s結(jié)尾的加’(但也有加’s)2.其他情況都加’s 2)一般名詞

1.規(guī)則的名詞復(fù)數(shù)形式(即已加上s和es,變成了復(fù)數(shù)的名詞)在后面加’。2.其他情況加’s 名詞的所有格相當(dāng)于belong to

表示時間或金錢的短語也能加’s。我們一般只對人和某些生物用-’s。名詞所有格放在其所修飾的名詞之前,但在上下文很清楚時名詞可以省略:

e.g.我坐邁克的車去,你可以坐安迪的。i’ll go in mike’s car and you can go in andy’s.名詞所有格的構(gòu)成有一條最簡單的規(guī)則,即除了以-s結(jié)尾的復(fù)數(shù)名詞只需加一省字號(’)外,任何人稱名詞都可以加-’s。具體情況如下:(1)在單數(shù)名詞及不以-s結(jié)尾的人名后加-’s:

e.g.我兄弟的鄰居的妹妹/姐姐是一名護(hù)士。my brother’s neighbour’s sister is a nurse.(5)以-s結(jié)尾的人名后應(yīng)加-’s,如hans’s address(漢斯的地址)。不過有時我們卻既可以單用省字號也可以用-’s:

e.g.瓊斯先生的汽車 ’/jones’s car 有些無生命的物體后面也可以用所有格,如與時間有關(guān)的:
