even though i am an engineer, i have to say that introduction to art history is the most important class i have ever taken. in this class i had the opportunity to learn new things, not only about art, but about other areas as well. i had a teacher who inspired me. and, believe it or not, it was important to my career as an engineer.
the course not only had interesting content but also a very inspiring teacher. my art history professor had a lot of enthusiasm for her subject, and she was able to convey that enthusiasm to her students. even though i am in a different field, this professor was a sort of role model for me. it is always inspiring to see people who love their work, no matter what it is. as i pursue my career as an engineer, i often think of this professor and hope that i bring the same enthusiasm to my own work.
art history should be a required course for everyone because it teachers you about so many things. i learned not only about art,but also about history, religion, literature, and mythology. these are subjects i didn’t learn about in my engineering classes, so it was a wonderful opportunity for me.
studying art history taught me some things about the history of engineering. in old paintings, i saw how buildings and bridges were built in the past. i saw how cities were planned. i realized that i could learn about my own field in different ways.
