1. apart 表示“分開”、“相距”、“離開”等，可以用于時(shí)間(time)、距離(distance)、關(guān)系(relation)、狀況(condition)等;另外從所表示的狀態(tài)來看，它既可表示靜態(tài)的“相距”或“相隔”;也可表示動(dòng)態(tài)的“分開”或“離開”等。如：
the two villages are about two kilometers apart. 這兩個(gè)村莊相距約兩公里。
their views are wide apart. 他們的看法相去甚遠(yuǎn)。
during that time we were never apart. 在那段時(shí)間里人我們從不分離。
i can’t get the two things apart. 我不能把這兩樣?xùn)|西分開。
he and his wife are living apart. 他與妻子沒有住在一起。

2. 表示具體的時(shí)間或距離時(shí)，應(yīng)置于其后，而不應(yīng)像漢語那樣置于其前。如：

3. 詢問相隔多遠(yuǎn)時(shí)，要用 how far apart...?

4. 用于短語 apart from(在美國英語中通常用 aside from)。如：
①表示“除...外還有”(=besides)。如：
