七星巖位于肇慶城北約3公里處,是個歷史悠久的風(fēng)景區(qū),游人到此游覽的歷史可上溯到一千多年前。1982年,取七星巖的“星”和鼎湖山的“湖”,合稱為“星湖風(fēng)景名勝區(qū)”,被國務(wù)院列為首批國家級重點(diǎn)風(fēng)景名勝區(qū)之一。

1999年、xx年星湖風(fēng)景名勝區(qū)先后被評為“國家重點(diǎn)風(fēng)景名勝區(qū)”、“全國十大文明風(fēng)景區(qū)示范點(diǎn)”、“國家4a級景區(qū)”。

七星巖的摩崖石刻主要集中在石室?guī)r的龍巖洞內(nèi)外及蓮花洞。自唐宋以來,歷代詩人墨客在此賦詩題字者,絡(luò)繹不絕,現(xiàn)存有摩崖石刻410余件。這些石刻,有古今體詩、長短句、四言韻語、四六駢文、歌行、散文、游記,還有對聯(lián)、題名、題榜以及經(jīng)文。論字體,篆、隸、真、行、草,樣樣俱全。使人恍如置身于碑刻書法藝術(shù)的宮殿,瀏覽于詩文薈萃的長廊。

【水月宮】 大家都看到了山門檐下的“水月宮”三個字吧,宮名為“水月”一說巖下本有座觀音堂,供奉著水月觀音;一說取“水月雙清”之義。水月宮始建于明嘉靖年間,萬歷三年重修擴(kuò)建,后廢,崇禎九年又重建 ,并鑄造銅像。1985年春由國家撥款重建。

七星巖牌坊位于景區(qū)中心湖南部,1959年落成,鋼筋混凝土仿古建筑,高12米,寬17.5米,四柱三間,柱礎(chǔ)花籃形,四根大圓柱飾以朱紅,仿歇山頂,上蓋琉璃瓦,中門上方鑲嵌著朱德于1959年手書的"七星巖"三個大字,為肇慶的重要標(biāo)志物。牌坊北側(cè)有廣場,面積2.83萬平方米,是集娛樂、休閑、觀賞、購物于一體的活動中心和大型公共活動場所。廣場有廣東最大的音樂噴泉,廣場文化在省內(nèi)頗有名氣,周末游客可在此免費(fèi)觀賞文藝演出。

七星巖摩崖石刻位于景區(qū)中心,共有531題,其中石室洞有333題,是廣東省保存最多、最集中的石刻群,1957年就列為省級重點(diǎn)文物保護(hù)單位。廣東石刻以唐為貴,七星巖就有唐刻4題。石刻以漢字為主,還有藏文和西班牙文。漢字各種書體俱全,以楷書為最,行書次之,其中唐代李北海正楷《端州石室記》是七星巖摩崖石刻的珍品。石刻群文體有詩、詞、歌、賦、對聯(lián)、題記,其中詩有252首,陳毅元帥撰詩稱之為"千年詩廊"。
